Are You a Child of God?

But there is a problem.  Because of sin, all people are born separated from God, making it impossible for us to have a relationship with Him.  The Bible says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

There is a remedy.  Sin affects us so much we won’t seek God on our own.  Therefore God takes the initiative and draws us to His Son Jesus Christ – who is the only way to the Father. (John 14:6).  Jesus says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him, shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

Eternal life defines the relationship God desires, Jesus says, “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” (John 17:3.).  “That they may know you,” means an ongoing love relationship that begins when we trust in Christ and continues for eternity.

To enter into this relationship you need to place your trust in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation – which means the forgiveness of your sins and entering a right relationship with God.  The Bible says, ‘That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved”
(Romans 10:9-10).

You are invited to begin your relationship with Jesus Christ, today, by praying this prayer:

Dear God, I recognize that I am a sinner and cannot save myself.   I choose to repent of my sin and turn my life over to You and ask Jesus Christ to forgive me and become my Lord and Saviour.  I commit myself from this day forward to walk in the strength of Christ as He indwells me by His Spirit.  Amen.

Now this is God’s promise to you when you receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God…” (John 1:12).
