The goal of counselling is not to give in to the demands of hurting people who are looking for a way to live their lives without God. Or, they may be seeking to find some way of having God involved in their lives in such a way that minimizes their pain. The purpose of problems we believe is not to use God to help us, but to use our problems to move us toward God. The Counselling Ministry at The Peoples Church, is a professional healing ministry that practices a Christian approach to counselling that is psychologically thoughtful and confidential for personal, marriage and family problems. Christian counselling is distinct from secular counselling. "In contrast to psychologically-integrated systems, Biblical counselling seeks to carefully discover those areas in which a Christian may be disobedient to the principles and commands of Scripture and to help him learn how to lovingly submit to God's will," reports the International Association of Biblical Counsellors. Biblically sound Christian counselling begins with the principles of God’s holiness that was vindicated at the cross. The goal of Christian counselling is to help hurting people discover a path to recovery through the teachings of Scripture.
Whom do we serve?
This ministry is extended to the members of The Peoples Church, Christians from other congregations and the secular community. Our purpose is to offer Christian counselling to individuals, married couples and families who are confronted with problems/issues that they have been unable to resolve in their own effort. We realize that this inability to find happiness and contentment through self-sufficiency, and the conflict and frustration that results, may eventually lead to despair and brokenness. The goal of this ministry is to help those who come for counselling to deal with personal and interpersonal problems through the application of Biblical truths.
How can we help you?
If you or a loved one needs counseling, we can help. We believe that God has given us all that we need to know Him and to live in a way that’s pleasing to Him. However, when a person willingly submits to God's instructions and clings to His promises there is hope and help. We have qualified Christian counsellors who undergo rigorous training to guide you through the difficult time you may be facing with understanding, warmth and compassion.
What can you expect from us?
Firstly, you can expect strict confidentiality, except where there is a biblical requirement to involve others according to the counsellor’s judgment. Secondly, you can expect to be treated with respect and compassion. Thirdly, you can expect to be encouraged to think and behave in a way that’s pleasing to God.
What does it cost?
Counselling is offered free of charge to the members of The Peoples Church. However, there is a fee for counseling services offered to non-member Christians and the secular community.
