The Uniqueness of Christ
Christianity is not about a philosophy, it’s about the person of Jesus Christ.
‘Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”’ (John 14:6)
What separates the Christian Gospel from every other religious system is Jesus Christ. Christianity is about a person – Jesus. It’s about who He is, what He did, and what He will do. Buddhism doesn’t require Buddha to make it work – Buddha died in the 5th century B.C. Confucianism does not need Confucius. He also died in the 5th century B.C. To be a Muslim, one needs to live by the book. Mohammad himself is long gone.
Not so with Jesus Christ – He is alive today, and His life is the active ingredient in the Christian life. He is not just a historical figure whose teachings Christians admire and follow. His teaching was centred on Himself. He did not say, ‘I will show you the way,’ but ‘I am the way.’ Not, ‘I will teach you the truth,’ but ‘I am the truth.’ Not ‘I will switch on the light,’ but ‘I am the light.’ His message was not ‘do this’ or ‘do that’ but ‘come to Me.’ He is Himself the substance of
the Christian life. That is why to ‘know Him’ is to live the Christian life.
Take a moment in the quietness of your own heart to thank God for the gift of Jesus and for the fact that you can enjoy His presence in your life.
