Overview

At The Peoples Church we believe that the command of Jesus in Matthew 28:18-20 to go and make disciples is of paramount importance.  To that end the Ministry of Discipleship and Small Groups is designed to be our response to that command.  We have expressed this in terms of a statement of purpose, that is:  “To know Christ and to make Him known at home and around the world.”

Our ministry of Small Groups provides a place where this purpose can be achieved.  The Biblical basis for our Small Group ministry is Acts 2:42-47.  Our model is Jesus and His disciples.  We want to create an environment where God can work in people’s lives.  On this site you will see the term “The Living Room.”  This is our way of describing our ministry as an opportunity for you to make room for real living as you learn to make Jesus a part of your life. We have several types of groups throughout the City of Toronto and beyond. 

We have special discipleship programs that specialize in teaching people to witness to others, learning how to handle family finances in a Biblically sound way.  The Alpha Course, which is a way of letting people ask the questions they need to ask as they explore what the Christian life is all about, is a major part of our overall discipleship ministry. We also have special discipleship programs that specialize in teaching people to witness to others, like becoming a Contagious Christian, Evangelism Explosion. As you explore this part of our web site, you will see an opportunity to become involved in one of these groups.  If what you are looking for is an opportunity to make new friends in a more intimate and comfortable setting than in the larger church congregation, you are in the right place.  If you are looking for help in growing in your spiritual journey with Christ, you are in the right place.  If you are looking for people who care about you, you are in the right place.  In our groups you will learn how to study the Bible, but even more important as you discuss what you are reading with other members of the group you will learn how to make it work in real life.
