What does my child do on a Sunday morning?

Let us walk you through a typical Sunday morning at Little Peoples.

The Preschoolers (ages 3yrs to 5yrs) are dropped off in their individual rooms. They spend approximately 15 minutes playing games and doing activities while connecting with their leaders and friends. They then join together for corporate worship and their Lil’K DVD based curriculum, which involves prayer, singing, memory verse and the bible story.  They then return to their rooms where they break in to small groups to go over the story again and apply to their lives. The children also have a chance to do crafts and other activities that relate to the bible story.

The Elementary Kids (ages 6yrs to 12yrs) are dropped off in Founder's Hall. Their morning starts off with “Let’s Worship” which is a time of corporate worship led by Pastor Yvonne Ford and her team of kids. The children then go through their DVD based curriculum which teaches the children to take a Bible lesson and Learn it, Link it and Live it. The Children then break off into their small groups where they have a chance to discuss what they have learned and to pray for each other.

School vs. Church

Picture this…

The Grade 3 students came into the classroom, sat in their desks, learned the lesson from their teacher and left knowing a bit more about the Bible.

Just a second! Wait a moment! Something is wrong with this picture! This happened at church? This sounds like school!

Jesus has called us to be disciples, not simply students - LIFE
Paul exhorted us to know God, not know Bible facts - RELATIONSHIP
Jesus established the Church, not a class – COMMUNITY
Those caring for children’s spiritual well-being are pastoring, not solely teaching – SPIRITUAL FORMATION

There is a HUGE difference.

That is why we at Little Peoples stress that our small group leaders see themselves as caregivers who foster community among their kids.  They introduce the children to Jesus, giving them the tools they need to deepen their spiritual walk, to live as effective disciples of Christ.

Leading a child to the understanding that they are a spiritual being and not just a brain which needs to be filled is a tall order.  Encouraging kids to care for one another when they only see each other for an hour a week is yet another challenging task.  To enable this, we meet in small groups, and we pray continually for a deepening relationship with God as they learn to live as His disciples.

Now let’s try this again…

The Gold group burst into their room and divided into their small groups.  Sitting in circles, their leaders connected with each one of them. The kids learned about each other’s week, they reviewed what God was trying to teach them through His Word, and they connected with Him while praying for each other, others in need, and for their own spiritual growth.

Children with Special Needs:

We are offering ministry to children who would benefit from a One-on-One Buddie.

Within the small group context we want each child to be ministered to in the most effective way.  Little Peoples is pleased to have a member of our own congregation, Janice Walfall, partnering with us in developing a ministry for children with special needs or those who would benefit from our greater understanding as we endeavor to disciple all of the children who come to our ministry.

Please help us serve you and your child better!  In order to keep this information confidential, please fill out the form below, seal this form inside the envelope and drop it in the red and white mailbox in the west hallway
