Worship Arts

Worship Team Member (Newcomers Ministry)

The purpose of this volunteer role is to help craft an engaging intercultural worship experience at our Sunday Newcomers Fellowship, which seeks to be a fresh expression of a welcoming and diverse community where people can find connection and compassion in their journey of life and faith.

Job Responsibilities

  • Help to lead worship in song with at the Newcomers Fellowship
  • Assist to develop the weekly, monthly, quarterly plan for worship at the Sunday Newcomers Fellowship
  • Collaborate with the tech team members about song lyrics/PPT
  • Help to develop various teams of musicians for future growth and development
  • Help to develop a musical growth strategy for students and volunteers
  • Collaboratively work alongside Newcomers Ministry Pastor and Newcomers Network leaders to provide worship support as needed

  • Welcoming, hospitable, and friendly demeanor towards newcomers to Canada
  • Willingness to walk alongside newcomers with patience and care as they journey in their new home country

Relationship/ Liaison

  • Reports to Newcomers Ministry Pastor
  • Liaises between Newcomers Ministry Pastor, Newcomers Network leaders, and Worship Arts leaders

Time Commitment

  • We ask team members to commit for at least 1 year with the ability to renew
  • 3-5 hours per week flexibly
  • Be able to attend Congregational Life Corporate Prayer Meeting every quarter

Seasonal Decorating Team

This diversely gifted team installs creative décor to enhance our worship environment for annual festivals and seasonal events

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with team lead for schedule
  • Decorate various areas within the church building as planned
  • After the festival is over, remove decorations and store them
  • May involve work indoors and/or outdoors at TPC and offsite at our workshop in Markham

Skills, Attitudes, Knowledge

  • Comfortable using construction tools, artistic tools, and crafting tools of various kinds
  • High regard for safety for self and other team members
  • Love of design and hospitality is an asset
  • Demonstrated humility and servant-heartedness
  • Team player – ability to lead and be led by others
  • Tasks may require lifting heavy objects, working with sharp objects and tools, climbing to heights over ten feet

Technical Arts

Set Design Team

This diversely gifted team designs, builds, and installs creative elements that enhance our church’s worship experience for Sundays and special events.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with team lead for schedule
  • Help design, build and install set pieces, and other large special displays (ie the outdoor Nativity scene at Christmas, the large temple and cross at Easter, the backdrop on platform)
  • May involve work indoors and/or outdoors at TPC and offsite at our workshop in Markham

Skills, Attitudes, Knowledge

  • Comfortable using construction tools, artistic tools, and crafting tools of various kinds
  • High regard for safety for self and other team members
  • Experience in a trade is an asset
  • Demonstrated humility and servant-heartedness

Stage Hand

To support Sunday services & large auditorium events as a stage hand

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare platform furniture and props for service(s)
  • Maintain organization and upkeep in backstage area
  • Assist platform participants by giving cues, communicating information, and direction from production team leads
  • Move furniture and props on and off stage before, during, and at the conclusion of services
  • Clean and tidy area at the conclusion of services

Lighting Programmer / Operator

To support Sunday services & large auditorium events by programming lighting and operating the lighting board

Job Responsibilities

  • Attend Wednesday mid-week rehearsal
  • Design lighting looks for each service element by programming all lighting cues
  • Ensure continuity between lighting cues for smooth distraction-free flow
  • Work through all service elements to ensure cues behave as expected
  • After rehearsals and services, make any necessary updates
  • Attend Sunday services and rehearsals as scheduled

Skills, Attitudes, Knowledge

  • Ability to learn new programs and skills
  • Problem-solving mindset and good attention to detail
  • Artistic eye for design, colour, and environment is an asset

Relationship, Liaison

  • Reports to and supported by Technical Arts Director

Time Committment

  • Wednesdays – evening Mid-week Rehearsal (7:00pm-9:30pm)
  • Sundays – setup, rehearsal, and all services (approximately 7:30am-1:00pm)

Front Of House (FOH) Audio Lead

To support Sunday services & large auditorium events by operating FOH Audio

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare audio elements for mid-week rehearsal (all mics, wireless, show file)
  • Be present and mix for Wednesday mid-week rehearsal and Sunday services as scheduled
  • Serve as monitor mix engineer
  • Prepare and place mics for on-stage speaking participants
  • Provide FOH audio mix for all services as scheduled
  • Trouble shoot audio issues and resolve

Skills, Attitudes, Knowledge

  • 10+ years large venue FOH audio operation
  • Experience with monitor mix
  • Musical ear
  • Strong trouble shooting skills

Technology / AV Team Lead (TPC Kids)

Help with PowerPoint slides, lights, videos, and other Tech/AV for TPC Kids.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with the Worship Coordinator and Bible Storyteller Coordinator to plan the Sunday worship for the weekly TPC Kids Sunday program
  • Organize and schedule Tech/AV team volunteers to serve each week

Skills, Attitudes, Knowledge

  • Completed AV training and/or experience related to AV/Tech
  • Ability to work independently
  • Administrative skills
  • Experience working with children
  • Interpersonal skills with people of all age

Relationship, Liaison

  • Reports to Children’s Ministry Pastor

Time Committment

  • Weekly or biweekly Commitment – to serve 1st or 2nd service
  • Sundays – 45 minutes before Worship Service and until all kids are
    picked up by their parents/guardian – Approximately 2.5 hours per week
  • Monthly Leader’s meetings – Approx. 2 hours every month
  • Quarterly Congregational Life Prayer Meeting – Approx. 2 hours per
    quarter
  • We ask all volunteers commit to 1 school year (September-August)

Technical Support (Lifespring 55)

The purpose of this volunteer role is to provide technical support for our monthly Lifespring 55 meetings.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with all technical needs during Lifespring 55 meetings and events
  • Meet with organizers of Lifespring 55 meetings to understand vision and needs
  • Arrive early to events to pray and support Lifespring 55 leaders

Relationship, Liaison

  • Reports to the Lifespring Executive Team and the Visitation Pastor

Time Commitment

  • 2 – 5 hours monthly
  • Able to attend the quarterly Congregational Life Corporate Prayer meeting
